I hear listicles are still cool. I’m hoping that every week I can come here and drop off some of my most inspiring breadcrumbs of the week.
Yesterday Stephen and I went on a date night. We started at the Library and ended at Harlows, a local music venue here in Sacramento.
We had the privilege of seeing Hilton Als get interviewed by our favorite cultural savant Faith Mckinnie. Hilton recently curated the exhibition, Joan Didion: What She Means at the Hammer Museum. It was absolutely enthralling, I can’t wait to dive deeper into the catalog.
We had our first date at Harlow’s and it’s where he proposed… it’s pretty special to us, to say the least. If you haven’t checked it out. I highly recommend the Darling Clemtines Burlesque and Drag Show this Sunday.
I wore this number by ÉTICA, rocking my “Mom’s still got it vibes.” They are a sustainable denim brand out of Los Angeles. While they don’t make this jumper anymore here are some similar ones that I’ve really been loving.
I recently updated my About page here on Substack, so that was fun. I’m hoping to reach 100 paid subscribers by the end of the month. So if you are feeling generous you can update your subscription below. This will help me pay for things like, say, an editor….
And obviously, I’m just getting started. But I’m feeling so inspired by Hilton Als and Joan Didion’s lives as writers. I’m really wanting to commit myself to the craft again. Honestly, I’ve had a book or two inside of me for a while.
Comments, questions, etc. from you all keep me going. I’m thinking about starting an “Ask me Anything” column here as well. I’d love to hear your thoughts and what you want to see.
And don’t worry travel content is on its way.
xx
